Dave sent me a link to this speech. It is a U.S. soldier berating and belittling Iraqi police for their lack of courage — in very strong language, with threats to "beat their asses" because they are "acting like a bunch of fucking women." The readers on YouTube love this speech. I am less optimistic. I understand that this makes U.S. soldiers feel better and it is a very frustrating and scary situation that I can't begin to imagine. The one part I thought was on target — although might have been done better backstage — was when the U.S. officer (I don't know the background of this video) berated one of Iraqi officers for being too "chickenshit" to lead a patrol himself. It is quite a speech, but I am not sure this kind of stuff actually works.

That said, from my acquaintance with milspec types this is what passes for standard motivation chats and has for literally centuries; largely because it works on it’s intended audiences.
For those of us not steeped in the culture the best analogy is that these guys are, or should be, jocks. Especially Infantrymen.

I think this stupid red neck jerk of an officer should be shipped out of Iraq back to the hills where he comes from, this is the reason why u.s. cannot win any loyalty in Iraq. Until the armed forces in this country realize that you cannot promote illiterates and imbeciles to the ranks of officer this country will always have an image problems abroad.

Do I think his speech will make a lick of difference, no. Did it need to be said, yes.
When it comes done to it we need red-blooded, hot-tempered men in the service, not cowards and soft-language.
We also need more Americans who will think like this guy. The moral of the story is 1) real men will defend their own country 2) don’t help others that won’t even try to help themselves.
I couldn’t agree more.
