I grew up in the San Francisco area and thus was trained to despise the
Los Angles Dodgers, which Tommy Lasorda coached for years.  But this
little quote from him is brilliant, and applies to management and a lot
of other challenges in life — including parenting.

    Have you read “I Live For This” It’s a short biography and there are a great deal of his wisdom nuggets in there. It’s a great read for managers. It talks a great deal about his charismatic style.

    Good quote from Lasorda. I always liked his managerial style. He seemed to get more out of his teams than they seemed capable of (especially the team w/ Kirk Gibson and Orel Hershiser that won the World Series in the late ’80s or early ’90s).
    But my all-time fave quote by a baseball manager on management is from the ol’ professor, Casey Stengel:
    “The key to being a good manager is keeping the people who hate me away from those who are still undecided.”

    ….and, for you golfers, a good description of the amount of tension that you should grip the golf club with. Hmmmm….works in golf and in management…..makes me wonder where else it could be applied. I smell a new blogpost coming.
