Are You an ARSE? Take the Test!

I worked with Guy Kawasaki and the folks from Electric Pulp to develop the Asshole Rating Self Exam, or  ARSE test, based on the The No Asshole Rule: Building a Civilized Workplace and Surviving One That Isn’t.   Check out Guy’s post on the test, his review of book, and take the 24-item ARSE test yourself — and see if you are a certified asshole. Or perhaps there is that special someone you know who needs to take the test.

Arseholes aren’t Agile, they’re an impediment. Are you an ARSE?

Bob Sutton author of several excellent books “The No Asshole Rule” and “Hard Facts, Dangerous Half-Truths And Total Nonsense” (my current reading). I took the Asshole Rating Self Exam today and scored 4, which makes me seem pretty normal. More

The problem with that test is, the answers are really obvious (would anyone deliberately pick “You enjoy lobbing “innocent” comments into meetings that serve no purpose other than to humiliate or cause discomfort to the person on the receiving end”?), or are the sort of thing that a true asshole would never notice, ie “You have the feeling that people are always very careful about what they say around you”.
I realise this is just a fun toy to promote the book, but I wonder if a more subtle version couldn’t be valuable for that very special manager…
